Dr. Michael Rosenberg “fell in love” with plastic surgery as a medical student at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. He can recount the exact moment: It was as he watched a photo presentation by the school’s then chief of plastic surgery. The photos showed the remarkable results he had achieved with plastic surgery on wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Hospital during the Vietnam War period. “It really inspired me to see how much he could do for people, helping them get back to their regular lives – even enjoy their lives.”

Today, that goal still drives Dr. Rosenberg as Chief of Plastic Surgery, Vice President for Physician Surgical Services, and Associate Medical Director at Northern Westchester Hospital. Growing up in Brooklyn, he chose medicine because it met his needs for “intellectual stimulation and a desire to help people.” He recalls telling his mother about his wish to study medicine at Columbia. “Well,” she replied, “do you have any alternate plans?” Said her son, “Mom, if you don’t think I can get into medical school, who else is going to?”
Board-certified in plastic surgery, general surgery and cosmetic surgery, Dr. Rosenberg has received the Governor's Citation for service as President of the Medical Society of the State of New York, and the Army Commendation Medal for service during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He and his psychiatrist wife are the proud parents of four children, and Dr. Rosenberg says his greatest goal is “to empower our children to do the things they want to do, the way I’ve been blessed.”
